Emily Jane Strickland

Emily Jane Strickland, 35, of Summerville, SC passed away Tuesday, April 23, 2024 at her residence.

Emily was born July 22, 1988, in Peterborough, NH. From an early age, Emily was drawn to art. She trained in drawing, painting, sculpture and other mediums but her true passion was tattooing. She worked as a tattoo artist, creating custom-designed pieces for her clients. Her whimsical artistic style often drew inspiration from folklore, mythology, and nature. Her artistic interests also extended to music and many types of crafts, including crocheting and needlework.

Emily had an outgoing personality and a gift for making friends. Her bright smile and hearty laugh will be missed by those who knew her. Emily was a devoted Boston Bruins fan who could often be heard cheering loudly for her team. She loved animals and cared for many, from kittens to chickens to reptiles, throughout her life. Emily was also an experienced snowboarder and enjoyed spending time on the mountain with friends and family.

Emily loved God and walked closely with Him. Her faith was a source of strength for her and an inspiration to others.

She leaves behind her father, William “Chip” Strickland and his wife Elizabeth of Summerville, SC; her mother, Brenda Kielty of Portland, ME; her brother, John Giddens of Freeport, ME; her sister, Hannah Santy and her husband Steve of Stratham, NH; and her companion, Wayne Doyle of Summerville, SC. She is predeceased by her grandparents, Shaun P. Kielty and Elaine C. Kielty and William E. Strickland and Jane C. Horn.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, May 4, 2024 at 11 o’clock a.m. at St. Paul’s Anglican Church in Summerville. In lieu of flowers, donations in Emily’s name may be made to Grace Home-Hebron Colony Ministries or to St. Paul’s Anglican Church.

A graveside burial ceremony will be held on Saturday, May 11, 2024 at 3:00 pm at Glenwood Cemetery, 763 Main Street, Ashby, MA. A reception will follow at Ashby Congregational Church, 21 New Ipswich Rd, Ashby, MA. All are welcome at both the ceremony and reception.
