Thomas Peterson III Obituary

Thomas Henry Peterson, III, 82, husband of Mary Ellen Bowen Peterson, passed away on Wednesday, April 24, 2024.

The relatives and friends of Thomas Peterson are invited to attend his Memorial Service at 3:00 PM, Saturday, April 27, 2024 at The Church of the Epiphany Episcopal Church, 212 Central Ave., Summerville, SC 29483. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Alzheimer's Association at alz.org or Paralyzed Veterans of America at pva.org. Thomas was born in Jersey City, New Jersey on September 2, 1941. He was the son of Thomas H. Peterson II and Caroline Daly Peterson.

He proudly served in the United States Navy; retiring after 30 years as a Command Master Chief. He was also a Master Chef, graduating from Johnson & Wales University and became a Master Scuba Instructor from PADI.

Thomas is survived by his wife, Mary Ellen Bowen Peterson; children, Tammy Lee Malphrus (Troy), Torry Dockendorf (Bill) and Thomas H. Peterson IV “T.J.” (Nancy); step children, Mary Katharine Barker (Charles) and David Bowen (Pok Cha); grandchildren, Haley Nicole Garner (Gary), Rachael Elizabeth Peterson and Melah Lee Dockendorf; step granddaughter, Katharine Bowen and his siblings, Carol Beutler (Ramona Primeaux), Peter Peterson (Janice) and Patty Vokes. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 46 years, Patricia Spain Peterson and his sisters, Bobbi Tracy, Sharon Van Gelden and Susan Peterson.
