Obituary

Branch Ellis Beattie, 23, of Summerville, SC, passed away Thursday, August 17, 2017.

A Memorial Service will be Wednesday afternoon, August 23, 2017 at 3 o’clock in Parks Funeral Home Chapel. Inurnment will be private. The family will gather after the service at Miler Country Club. Flowers will be accepted, or memorials in Branch’s name may be made to MUSC Center for Drug and Alcohol Programs, 67 President St, Charleston, SC 29425.

Branch was born November 27, 1993 in Stamford, CT, a son of Richard Knox Beattie and Lisa McNash Beattie. He was an incredibly fun and diverse man in his free time with his peers. He was an avid skateboarder and loved skating around Charleston. He had a passion for music, from finding unique and well-hidden music, to recording and creating his own. Branch loved painting and drawing, and spent much of his free time painting his own works. He also loved baseball and grew up playing for many local teams. He was an avid animal lover and was loved by all animals he came in contact with. He was incredibly smart and graduated 17th in the first graduating class of Ashley Ridge High School. He studied at Trident Technical College and College of Charleston. In the past few years, he has worked in a variety of local retail and food businesses. Branch was a very creative, funny, smart, and sweet man that was loved by many.

Branch leaves behind his mother and father, Lisa and Knox Beattie; brother, Wilson Beattie; grandmother, Faith Whitlock; Aunt Mary and Uncle Andy “Copeland” with cousins Robert, Ryan, and Corey Callahan, all of Summerville; Aunt Leslie McNash, of Summerville and cousin Lindsay Mamet, of San Francisco, CA; Aunt Robyn Remeika and cousins, Coltyn, Payne, and Paityn Remeika, all of Summerville. He is predeceased by his grandmother, Jane Ashland; step-grandfather, William Ashland; and grandfather, Charles McNash.
