Alfred Duane Ward

Alfred Duane Ward, 75, of Ridgeville, SC, husband of Marie Elaine Shepard Ward, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, April 11, 2019.

A Celebration of Life with Military Honors will be Sunday afternoon, April 14, 2019 at 3 o’clock at 451 West Butternut Road, Summerville, SC 29483. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Commander's Honors 232 Calhoun Street Charleston SC or The American Stroke Association P.O. Box 744806 Atlanta, GA 30374-4806.

Duane was born April 18, 1943 in Seneca, IL, the son of Merle Ward and Esther Higgins Ward. He was the owner of Ward’s Landscaping, a family business he began after retiring at age 39 from the United States Navy as an E-9 Master Chief with 22 years of service.

In addition to his wife, Elaine Ward, Duane leaves behind his children, Matthew Ward, Melody Hair (Mike), Sarah Otarola (Dan), Brandy Alexander (Alan), and Rebecca Vance; and grandchildren, Micah Ward, Emberlynn Ward, Jett Cahoon, Madison Alexander, Analisa Otarola, Holly Hair, Michael Vance, Connor Vance, Bryson Register, and Easton Register.
