Arvin Vint Thornburg

Arvin Vint Thornburg, 91, of Summerville, SC widower of the late Shirley Ann Minton Thornburg, passed away Thursday, October 4, 2018.

Memorial Services will be Friday morning, October 19, 2018 at 10 o'clock in Parks Funeral Home Chapel. Family and friends will reassemble for burial at 2 o'clock in Beaufort National Cemetery, 1601 Boundary St., Beaufort, SC 29902. Flowers will be accepted.

Arvin was born August 5, 1927 in Johnston City, TN, a son of the late Murry Daniel Thornburg and Caldonia Rebecca Patrick Thornburg. He honorably served in the United States Navy and was a WWII Veteran. He worked as a Civil Engineer in SC and at the Charleston Naval Weapons Station.

Arvin leaves behind two sons, Nathaniel Ray Thornburg of Summerville, SC, and Dale Wayne Thornburg of Marion, VA; a daughter, Tina Thorsen of Seacliff, NY; step-children, Debby Marshall and Kyra Marshall, both of Roxboro, NC; brother, Murry Daniel Thornburg of Jupiter, FL; five sisters, Barbara Hawley, Shirley Walker, Betty Poole, Katie Lou Talton, and Diane Bracelone. In addition to his wife and parents, he is predeceased by a son, Gregory Max Thornburg; brother, Spencer Thornburg; and two sisters, Carolyn Ann T. Johnson and Laura T. Martin.
