Carl "C.B." Byrd Hill

Carl Byrd “C.B.” Hill, 93, of Lebanon, retired Civil Service employee and farmer, husband of Anne Hill, passed away on Friday, February 2, 2018.

C.B. was born on July 8, 1924, in Lebanon, South Carolina, a son of William Bennett and Abbie Varner Hill. He served in the U.S. Army in WWII where he spent many months in Paris, France, a city that he would often recount fond memories of. C.B. and Anne were blessed to be married for 65 years. They enjoyed spending time together, traveling, gardening, and listening to music on Friday and Saturday nights.

Surviving in addition to his wife are two daughters, Sadie Ann Herndon and her husband Jack of Big Lake, Minnesota, Cookie Varner and her husband Donald of Lebanon, and a son, Carl Bennett Hill and his wife Penny of Lebanon; a sister, Marie Reeves of Lebanon; 7 Grandchildren, Adam Herndon, Travis Herndon, Seth Herndon (Marin), Shanna Saulisbury (Shane), Kirk Varner (Jordan), Chad Hill (Ashley), and Sarah Lindsey (Troy); 9 Great-Grandchildren, Lance Saulisbury, Ruby Herndon, Gabe Herndon, Abbie Saulisbury, Holden Hill, Parker Herndon, Cora Herndon, Evelyn Herndon and Wyatt Varner. He was predeceased by a brother, William Hill and 2 sisters, Dorothy Hill and Lillie Mae Crosby.

His funeral service will be held at Lebanon United Methodist Church in the Lebanon Community on Tuesday, February 6, 2018, at 2 p.m. Interment will follow at Rudd Branch Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church from 1 p.m. until the hour of service. Memorials may be made to Rudd Branch Cemetery, 1222 Whitehouse Road, Summerville, SC 29486.
