Caroline Clarkson Boineau, of Edisto Island, South Carolina, passed away peacefully at the age of 90.
Caroline was born on Edisto Island in 1928 to Dr. Jenkins Mikell Pope and Charlotte “Lottie” Nelson Pope. She was the youngest of seven children. Caroline received a bachelor’s and master’s degree in education from the University of South Carolina. She taught school for over 25 years, one year receiving the honor of being named Teacher of the Year for the state of South Carolina. Caroline was very active in the Edisto Island Historical Society and the Edisto museum.
Preceding Caroline in death were Alfred “Skeets” Taylor Clarkson, Jr. and John H. (Jack) Boineau. She is survived by her four children: Alfred Taylor Clarkson, III (Karen), Townsend Pope Clarkson (Stephanie), Caroline Clarkson Kennedy (Kirk), and Jenkins Lucas Clarkson (Heather). She will be remembered as a warm and sensitive mother to her four surviving children, and a loving grandmother to thirteen grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, December 15, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at The Presbyterian Church on Edisto Island.
