David Thomas Anderson, 96, widower of Doris Mae Singletary Anderson, passed away Friday, August 3, 2018 at the Village of Summerville.
Mr. Anderson was born on October 18, 1921 on Charlotte Street, Charleston, the first son of James Martin Anderson and Annie Frances Thompson Anderson. He attended Bennett School and Murray Vocational School. He left school in the eighth grade to work with his father in the plumbing business. He was a WWII Army veteran, serving in Battery B 464th Parachute Field Artillery Battalion. He retired from the Merchant Marines as a Marine Engineer. He was a former member of Summerville Presbyterian Church and a life member of Summerville Masonic Lodge #234.
He is survived by his two sons and three daughters, David, Jr. of Ocala, FL, Martin Joseph Anderson (Pat) of Powder Springs, GA, Nancy Louise Anderson of Summerville, SC, Donna Ruth A. Herring (Larry) of North Augusta, SC, Pamela Jean A. Copley (Jeff) of Duck River, TN. There are 7 grandsons and 6 granddaughters, David, III, Andy, Patrick, Martin, Jr., Thomas, Henry and Carl; Angie, Megan, Melissa, Sarah, April and Lauren. There are 5 great grands: Braelyn, Ryker, Kade, Lillie and Tucker. He is also survived by one sister, Margaret Mitchum-Feigl.
He was predeceased by 3 sisters and 5 brothers, Ruth Edwards, Anne Archer and Effie Jones, Jimmy, Jr., Raymond, Anthony, John "J.T." and Louis. He was also predeceased by a great granddaughter Alex "Allie".
