Doris (Cross) Cummings

Doris Cross Cummings, age 77, of Ladson, SC, passed away Sunday evening, March 11, 2018. She spent her final days surrounded by family who loved her. Although she knew she would be missed, Doris was at peace with the knowledge that she was going to her eternal home with Jesus Christ. She will meet her mother, Ellen Cross, and sister Anita Cross Harden in glory.

She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Ross Cummings; sister Judy Strock (Harry); three children Gail Brendle (Jack), Lana Ketchem (John), Janet Hansen (Art); and 6 grandchildren, Nicole and Seth Ketchem, Holly and Rachel Brendle, Daniel and Logan Hansen. 

Growing up, Doris always wanted a husband and children of her own. When blessed with her heart’s desire, she gave everything she had to them. Her life was full with church, camping trips, baseball games, and square dancing. A gardener with the best tomatoes you’ve ever eaten, she passed on her love of books and board games to her children and grandchildren. Doris Cummings will be missed and the world is a little poorer for its loss. However, heaven is that much brighter with her love and praise. May the circle be unbroken. 

Services will be held Thursday morning, March 15, 2018 at Parks Funeral Home Chapel at 11 am. Burial will follow in the Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery Churchyard. Visitation will be held at Parks Funeral Home Wednesday evening from 6 – 8 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Charleston, 676 Wando Park Blvd., Mount Pleasant, SC 29464.
