Homer Lee Lipham, 95, widower of Virginia Owen Lipham, passed away Tuesday, April 16, 2019 in Summerville, SC.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday morning, April 18, 2019, at 11 o'clock in Parks Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Summerville Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday morning from 10 o'clock until time of service at Parks Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Summerville Baptist Church, 417 Central Avenue, Summerville, SC 29483.
Mr. Lipham was born December 15, 1923 in Newell, AL, a son of the late Millard L. Lipham and Elizabeth Morrow Lipham. Homer honorably served 3 1/2 years in US Navy as a Barber. He worked as a weaver at Callaway Mills in LaGrange, GA and came to Summerville where he worked for Deluxe Cleaners then the Dorchester Coca Cola Bottling Company for 5 years. In 1953, he opened Homer's Barber Shop and retired after 25 years. Homer also worked for McElveen Pontiac Buick GMC for 28 years as driver. He was a member of Summerville Baptist Church.
Mr. Lipham is survived by his sister, Erlene L. Shelnutt of Ocala, FL, two sisters-in-law, Virginia Cross Lipham of Pensacola, FL, Joan E. Owen of Summerville; many nieces and nephews and special friends. In addition to his parents, Homer is predeceased by his loving wife of 66 years, Virginia O. Lipham; four brothers, Clinton (JC) Lipham, Clarence Lipham, Kenneth Lipham, Jesse Lipham; and two sisters, Dorothy Traylor and Inez Bailey.
