Janice Karen Williams, Karen to some, but forever "The Colonel," was called home to Jesus on Friday, September 7, 2018. Karen commanded the attention and respect of humans and canines, and exuded a joy for life that affected all who knew her. Her proudest moment was being promoted to Colonel in the United States Marine Corps where she served over thirty years.
In honor of her dedication and in respect of her wishes, her service will be held in Arlington National Cemetery at a future date. Karen's favorite moments were spent with her family, singing, playing the guitar, and giving orders.
She is survived by ranks of those who adored her: her stepmother Elizabeth Williams, her brothers, David Williams (Mary), Douglas Williams, Owen Williams (Dianna), Richard Williams (Tammy), and Jim Whitfield (Janet). She is also survived by two sisters, Marylove Gonzalez (David), Holly Hollifield (Brad), and her loving cousin, Rebecca Hansen. Karen will greet her father, Owen Williams Sr, her mother, Jane Williams, her sister Beth Whitfield, and her special aunt, Cissi Williams McChesney, when she marches through the gates of heaven.
We know she is there getting things in order for the ultimate family reunion. Rest In Peace and Semper Fi, Colonel. We salute you.
