Jean Lartigue Carroll, 74, of Summerville, SC passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 8, 2018.
Memorial Services will be Saturday afternoon, February 17, 2018 at St. Paul’s Anglican Church at 1:30 PM. Burial will follow in St. Paul’s Churchyard. A gathering of family and friends will take place in Doar Hall immediately following the burial. Jean was born June 8, 1943 in Summerville, SC, the daughter of James Cordes Carroll and Thelma Myers Carroll. She grew up in Summerville and graduated from the University of South Carolina and Auburn University at Montgomery. She was a teacher at both Summerville and Fort Dorchester High Schools and taught and served as an Assistant Principal at Bellingrath in Montgomery, AL. She served on the Timrod Library Board, was a member of the Flowertown Garden Club, volunteered with the SPCA, and was a member of St. Paul’s Church, Summerville, SC. Jean loved spending time with family and friends, gardening, reading, movies, and was known for caring for stray cats, dogs, and people. She possessed a wonderfully eclectic sense of humor and was a character in every sense of the word. She will be dearly missed.
Jean leaves behind her son, Robert C. Holler, III (Sylvia) of Cumming, GA; brothers, James C. Carroll, Jr. (Beth) of Spartanburg, SC, and Julian C. Carroll of Summerville, SC; and two grandchildren, Carson G. Holler and Addison B. Holler. She is predeceased by her parents, James C. and Thelma M. Carroll.
