John C. Richardson, Sr.

John C. Richardson, Sr., also known as “Papa or JC”, 81, of Summerville, SC, passed away on Friday, June 14, 2019.

The visitation will be held on Monday, June 17, 2019 at Deliverance Tabernacle, 3190 West 5^th North Street, Summerville at 12 noon. The funeral service will follow at 1 pm. Burial will be in Boone Hill U.M.C. Cemetery. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Roper Hospice of Charleston, 1483 Tobias Gadson Blvd. Suite 209 B, Charleston, SC 29407.

JC was born in Winston Salem, N.C. on June 26, 1937, a son of the late Matthew Richardson and Maggie Green Richardson. JC enjoyed being outdoors. He loved watching and feeding his ducks. He also enjoyed riding around and looking at new construction. He was a lifelong Washington Redskins and Boston Red Sox fan. He served in the United States Army as a Paratrooper. He was a construction supervisor with Landmark Construction Company.

JC is survived by his son Raymond M. Richardson (Tammie) of Summerville; daughter-in-law Judie Richardson of Summerville; Brothers Carlton Richardson of Murrells Inlet and Pete Richardson of Winston Salem; sister Ruby Younger of Winston Salem; grandsons Johnathan Richardson (Amber), Joshua Richardson, and Trennon Richardson all of Summerville; and one great granddaughter Maddie. JC is predeceased by his son, John C. Richardson, Jr.; sisters Audrey Mae Hughes, Annie Richardson, Joann Price, Lola Combs; and brother Matthew D. (Bud) Richardson.
