Mary (Umphlett) Workman

Mary Umphlett Workman, 90, died Thursday, March 27, 2019 at Summerville Medical Center after a short illness.  Mary was the widow of Glenn F. Workman. 

She was born December 30, 1928 in Witherbee, SC, the daughter of Mills W. Umphlett and Jennie Wyndham Umphlett.  She and Glenn enjoyed spending time together on their boat and also travelled extensively to many exciting places around the world.  Bridge was an avocation for Mary and she loved coming in first.  She was a regular visitor to the library, reading several mysteries a week.  She was a long time member of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church.

Mary was a devoted aunt to her nieces, nephews, their children and grandchildren.  In addition to her nieces, nephews and their families, Mary is survived by two sisters in law, Cherie Lee Yonker of Valparaiso, IN and Ginny Umphlett of Moncks Corner, SC.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, 206 Central Ave, Summerville, SC 29483; Meals on Wheels, P.O. Box 592, Summerville, SC 29484 or to the charity of one's choice.   Funeral services will be held Monday, April 1, 2019 at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church at 11:00 a.m.  The family will receive visitors after the service and private burial will be in White Church Cemetery.
