Montelle Leroy Davis

Heavens’ gate opened today, October 24, 2019, for Montelle Davis , widower of the late Bobbe Pettett Davis. He was 87 years old. He had an infectious smile with a warm and loving personality that affected everyone he met.

Graveside Services will be Saturday afternoon, October 26, 2019 at 2 o’clock in St. Paul’s Summerville (Anglican) Churchyard. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Montelle’s name may be made to St. Paul’s Summerville, 111 Waring St., Summerville, SC 29483, or Respite Care Charleston, 1605 Harbor View Rd, Charleston, SC 29412.

Montelle was born July 5, 1932 in El Paso, IL. He worked on the family farm before moving to Streator, IL. There, he married and had three children. Monty was a in the US Army from June of 1954 to June of 1956 during the Korean Conflict. He faithfully attended Christ Episcopal Church of Streator, IL and St. Paul’s Summerville. He was good provider for his family, which he put first above all else, and was a kind and Loving husband and father. He worked at Streator Township High School and USPS.

During his final three years of life, he attended Respite Care of Charleston twice weekly at Holy Spirit Evangelical Lutheran Church, which truly enriched his life. It was there where Monty discovered he had a talent for painting. One of his paintings was used as the artwork for the annual fundraiser invitation.

He is survived by his daughter, Denise Broad and son-in-law Dusty Broad; son, Bill Davis and wife Kathy Davis; three grandchildren, Hope Thomas, Cory Thomas, and Tyler Thomas; six great-grandchildren; brothers, Bradley and Douglas; and a sister, Sonya. He is predeceased by a daughter, Monica; sister, Carol; brother, Roger; father, Lester; and mother, Lucille.
