Stephen DeLonge of Summerville died September 29, 2018 at the Victory House in Walterboro.
The funeral will be held 11am Thursday, October 4, 2018 in the sanctuary of St. Luke's Lutheran Church, 206 Central Avenue, Summerville. A reception will follow in the church's Fellowship Hall.
Mr. DeLonge was born December 4, 1940, in Charleston, a son of Henry William Schulze and Eugenia Von Oshen. He graduated from Summerville High School in 1960, commuting in his Model A Ford from Ladson in Charleston County. Following high school he joined the U.S Air Force for four years, serving as a crew chief on a trainer. He met his future wife, Alice, in June 1965 and they married on August 20, two months from the day they first met. They were married at Westminster Presbyterian Church and shared 53 years together. They raised three sons, Ray, William and Eric.
As a master electrician, Mr. DeLonge opened his own business on July 17, 1967. The business was transferred to William in 2005. He was active in 4-H in his youth, winning a ribbon for his pig. As an adult, he was a member of the Jaycees, the Associated Building and Contractors and St. Luke's Lutheran Church. With Ernie Kleppin, he worked on maintaining the church's electric system. He loved his motorcycle and was a member of the Golden Wing Riders Association. He loved his family, his church and the town of Summerville.
Surviving are his sons, Ray (Robyn) of Walterboro, William (Tara) of Summerville, and Eric; two grandchildren, Edward and Christopher of Summerville; a sister, Sue Nichols of Summerville; and a nephew, Kurt Nichols of Summerville.
Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to the Columbarium maintenance fund at St. Luke's Lutheran Church.
