Susie (Scott) Bailey

Susie Scott Bailey, 79, of Summerville, SC, joined the angels in heaven on September 16, 2018.  She was the beloved wife of Al Bailey for 57 wonderful years. 

After working at the Summerville Sewing Factory, she left to become a full-time housewife and mother to two children, Kimberly Sue and Martin Ted.  She later worked for the Berkeley County School System, serving in the lunchroom.  A 1959 graduate of Summerville High School, she played Green Wave basketball as an All State Center.  In 2001, she was inducted into the Summerville Athletic Hall of Fame in recognition of her accomplishments.  Susie was also a dedicated poll clerk for 30 years for the Berkeley County Election Commission.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Russell and Margaret Scott of Summerville; two sisters, Barbara Scott and Mary (Don) Londergan; one brother, Randy (Amanda) Scott.  She was also preceded in death by three half-brothers: Emmitt, J.T., and Wilford Scott; and one half-sister, Marilese Redick.

She is survived by her sister Betty (Simeon) Abdon of Summerville, and half-sister Beverly Driggers of Goose Creek.

She leaves behind her loving husband, Al, son Marty Bailey, and daughter Kim (David) O’Dell.  Her legacy will continue through her adoring grandchildren: Rebekah O’Dell, Blaise Bailey, Ryan O’Dell, Alex Bailey, and Lauren Fanning; and great-grandson, Asher Yeager. She will also be remembered by her countless nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

The visitation will be held Thursday evening, September 20, 2018 from 6 until 8 o’clock at Parks Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held Friday morning, September 21, 2018, at 10 o’clock in Parks Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Summerville Cemetery. Flowers will be accepted.
