Viola (Bethune) Harley

Viola Bethune Harley, daughter of the late Ruth Mills Bethune and John Franklin Bethune, passed away on Friday, June 7, 2019.

The visitation will be on Sunday afternoon, June 9, 2019 at 1 o’clock and the funeral service will follow at 2 o’clock in Summerville Baptist Church, 417 Central Avenue, Summerville. Burial will follow in Summerville Cemetery.

Viola was born on September 14, 1925 in Manning, SC. She was an active member of Summerville Baptist Church since 1960, where she was a member of the Joyce Bagwell Class. Viola retired as an Executive Assistant to the Superintendent, Summerville School District 2.She was a member of the Summerville Chapter #143, Order of Eastern Star of South Carolina under the jurisdiction of Grand Chapter of South Carolina, O.E.S. and past Worthy Matron, Germany.

Viola is survived by her daughter, Sonya Marie Harley of Summerville; two grandchildren; five great grandchildren; one great great-grandchild. She is predeceased by her husband Ralph Jennings Harley and son Gary Jennings Harley, Sr.
