Alice McAtee Bush

Alice McAtee Bush, 84, of Summerville, SC passed away Saturday, December 27, 2025.

 A Memorial Mass will be Thursday, January 15, 2026 at 11o’clock at St. John the Beloved Catholic Church. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made in her name to St. John the Beloved Catholic Church, 28 Sumter Ave., Summerville, SC 29483.

Alice was born October 15, 1941 in Princeton, IN, the daughter of the late Everett McAtee and Ruth Grubb McAtee. She had a long career at Bayer Chemical, now Lanxess, where she was a well-respected purchasing manager. She retired with over 30 years of service at the Bushy Park plant in Charleston. She was a loyal fan of USC football, attending nearly every home game (and many, many away games) for over 25 years, as well as a fervent fan of USC Women’s basketball. She was a devoted parishioner of St. John the Beloved Catholic Church in Summerville. Alice was also a fierce and involved mother to two sons, providing a solid and supportive home, while also maintaining her own successful career. She remained supportive of their careers and lives as they matured. She was an avid gardener, especially fond of growing her roses and orchids.

Alice leaves behind her two sons, Eddie Bush and his wife Carolyn of Summerville, SC and Kevin Bush and partner Brian Banks of Columbia, SC. In addition to her parents, Everett and Ruth McAtee, she is predeceased by her mother-in-law, Evelyn Bush.
