Barbara Jean Fipps

Barbara Jean Fipps, 74, of Pinopolis, passed away on Tuesday, June 15, 2021.

The relatives and friends of Barbara Fipps are invited to attend her Funeral Service at 11:00 AM, Saturday, June 19, 2021, at Parks Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Summerville Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until the time of service, in the parlor.

Barbara was born in Charleston, South Carolina on October 17, 1946. She was the daughter of Nolie and Janie Grooms. She loved her family especially her granddaughter. She loved to brag on her about how well she could dance, sing and how smart she was. They would pick at each other every chance they got. She loved to travel to the mountains to visit her brother and his wife and just riding on back roads talking about her family. She would often be heard talking about her children and how she was proud of them and their accomplishments. She also loved going to family gatherings and catch up on what was new with the family.

The family would like to acknowledge and thank the staff of Lake Moultrie Nursing home for taking such great care of our mother over the past few years. Also we would like to thank the Nurses and Doctors in the ICU at Trident medical center for taking care of our mother in her last days.

She is survived by her daughter, Toni Fipps Sherman (Jeff); her son, Del Fipps (Brooks); granddaughters, Layton Sherman and Chelsea Sherman Fong; brother, Larry Grooms (Barbara); sister in law, Linda Donehue Grooms; nieces, Julie Grooms Wilson, Dana Grooms Bigham and Jennifer Grooms Helms; nephews, Darryl Grooms and Jonathan Grooms, as well as many great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Nolie M. Grooms, Sr. and Janie Grooms and her brother, Nolie M. Grooms, Jr.
