Brenda Bunch Obituary

On Sunday, February 2, Brenda Duncan Bunch, went to be with the Lord. For 77 years, we were blessed to have her here with us. Brenda was born in Cross, SC to William & Dorothy Duncan. She grew up surrounded by cousins, playing under pecan trees, and helping out at her Grandfather’s Country Store. In high school, she enjoyed dancing and playing basketball.

A lover of sports, Brenda was always watching college and pro football, basketball, and baseball. She was a long-time Atlanta Braves and Falcons fan — though she began rooting for the Carolina Panthers when their franchise began. Initially a Gamecock fan, her daughter worked tirelessly to convert her to the Tigers, successfully doing so — though she would be a good Tiger fan and pull for the Gamecocks if they were not playing Clemson. She also cheered for the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers when her Grandson attended CCU. And, more recently, became an Oklahoma Sooner fan when her Granddaughter began college there. Some of her favorite times were attending Braves games and she was thrilled when she was able to make it to the new Truist Park Stadium. Brenda also enjoyed bowling, reading, quilting, and baking.

For 57.5 years, she was married to the love of her life, Lawrence Bunch, Jr. — or LD, as she lovingly called him. He too had a nickname for her, Blossom, which many friends also adopted. In their time together, they traveled attending fishing tournaments and barrel races, making lifelong friends along the way. Travels also included family vacations with camping trips being a fond memory for the family — simple times just around the campfire. Many weekends were spent on the lake or beaches, enjoying the sunshine and good friends. In her final years, as she suffered from immense back pain, LD took great care of her.

Brenda loved her family and friends fiercely. She was proud of her two daughters, two granddaughters, one grandson, and one great-granddaughter. She beamed with pride when she talked about them.

Brenda is survived by her husband, Lawrence, her daughters Alison (Tom), Karen (Kevin), granddaughter Ashlyn (Justin), grandson Hunter (Chloe), granddaughter Ashton, and great-granddaughter Bailey Joh. She is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends. The family would like to especially acknowledge Valerie Jackson and Vanessa Mock for their support and care of Brenda in the last several weeks after she had a fall and broken arm.

Brenda is predeceased by her parents and brother as well as aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests friends and family donate to one of these three charities in Brenda’s memory:

• Atlanta Braves Foundation

• Shriners Children’s Hospital of Greenville

• St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital

The family will receive visitors on Tuesday, February 11 from 6pm-8pm. A celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, February 12 at 4pm. Both will be held at 123 Twig Lane, Summerville, SC.
