Burnett Ahl Jr. Obituary

Burnett "Bubba" D. Ahl Jr. was born in Ridgeville, SC, on October 30, 1949. Bubba grew up on a family farm, was the fourth oldest of eight, and had seven sisters. His deep country roots shaped the image of the cowboy we all knew. Bubba enlisted in the Army and served in Vietnam from 1969 to 1972, starting in communication and transitioning to a door gunner on a Bell UH-1 helicopter. He was honorably discharged in 1975 and loved the honor of serving his country.

Bubba was a devoted husband and father. His family was his top priority, and he spent his life loving and caring for their well-being. In 1980, Bubba built his home in Ridgeville, meticulously constructing it beam by beam and brick by brick with his own hands. He had a successful career at BellSouth, specializing in fiber splicing, and was a leader and mentor for new employees. Bubba was highly regarded, receiving numerous accolades for his work. He deeply valued his career while providing for his family, but his love for the outdoors truly defined him. A skilled outdoorsman and gunsmith, Bubba's passion for hunting and deep connection to nature was evident in the significant portion of his life he spent exploring and appreciating the beauty of the outdoors.

His passing is preceded by his father, Burnett Dewey Ahl, his mother, Charlotte Theresa Ahl, and his wife, Patricia Ann Ahl.

His loving children survive him: Carrie Wood (Steve), Joseph Ahl (Heather), Jason Ahl (Hope), and Burnett Ahl III (Morgan), Bubba also leaves behind his sisters, Mitey All, Cathy Thorton (Quenton), Barbara “Bunny” Vance (Arnold), Claire Grant (Don), Judith Perry (Rodger), Elaine Mosier (Randy) and Caroline Price. He also leaves behind 10 Grandchildren.

We will honor and celebrate Burnett Ahl Jr.'s life Monday afternoon, August 26, 2024 at 3 o’clock in Parks Funeral Home Chapel. Flowers are accepted.
