Charlton Scott Cochran, 78, of Summerville, SC, husband of Carol Hayes Cochran, passed away Sunday morning, April 14, 2019.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday April 20, 2019 at 11:30 am in Andrews Chapel, 1375 Pulitzer Road, Pinewood, SC. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hollings Cancer Center, 86 Jonathan Lucas Street, Charleston SC 29425 or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
Charlton was born on December 26, 1940, in Manning, SC, a son of the late Charlton Truesdale Cochran and Alice Coulliette Cochran. Charlton was a Mason and a volunteer fireman with Summerville Fire and Rescue. He was a graduate of Summerville High School and the Kentucky School of Mortuary Science. He was a Funeral Director with Parks Funeral Home. He served his country faithfully as a hospital corpsman with the United States Navy and he owned Cochran’s Shoe Store. He enjoyed fishing and hunting.
Charlton is survived by his wife Carol Hayes Cochran of Summerville; sons Charlton Stephen Cochran (Lee) of Summerville, Michael Lewis Cochran (Jennifer) of Summerville; daughter Nancy McDaniel (Cliff) of Hanahan; sister Sara Fair Fleming of Goose Creek; five grandchildren, Thomas McClain, Ryan McDaniel, Nichole Goodman, Kenneth McDaniel, and Charlton P. Cochran; seven great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his brother Charlton Truesdale Cochran, Jr.; two sisters Alice Holmquest, Ann Hoover and his granddaughter Caroline Grace Cochran.
