Christopher Thomas Coggins

Christopher Thomas Coggins, 47, of Summerville, passed unexpectedly on December 31, 2024.  

Born on February 6, 1977, to Tom and Sandra Coggins, Chris grew up alongside his twin brother, Matt, in Indian Land, South Carolina. Chris was a man who embraced life with an infectious enthusiasm and a well-thought plan. He was the devoted husband of 18 years to his best friend, Allison, and the proud father of three children, Aubrey Stone, Emarie Jane, and Maggie Katherine. 

He was an avid outdoorsman and a proud Eagle Scout, having spent much of his life exploring nature and teaching others to do the same. His love for the outdoors was a defining part of who he was—whether he was serving with Salkehatchie, campingwith the Scouts, planning road-trips with his family, or tending to his plants, Chris found peace and purpose in nature. He was known for having the greatest green thumb, and his plant collection was a testament to his patience and care.

Chris was a proud graduate of The Citadel’s Class of 1999,where he forged lifelong bonds with his “BROTHERS” of Golf Company. His journey through the rigors of a military education didn’t just shape Chris’ skills as a leader; it instilled in him a profound sense of integrity and discipline that guided him daily. 

With a heart dedicated to serving others, his story is a testament to the power of brotherhood and his enduring commitment to making a difference in the world. 

Chris worked for IPW Construction Group, LLC, where he was known as the "Jack of All Trades." Formerly titled Survey Division Senior Project Manager, he was dependable, hardworking, and someone who could always be counted on. His coworkers were more than just colleagues; to him, they were like family. Chris valued the relationships he built at work and took pride in supporting those around him.

Above all, Chris was a devoted family man, always prioritizing his wife and children above all else. He took great pride in raising his children. His greatest joy was being with his family, whether it was through outdoor adventures, home projects, or simply sharing a home-cooked meal together. Chris taught them the importance of kindness, hard work, and staying true to your values.

Chris is survived by his wife, Allison; children, Aubrey Stone, Emarie Jane, and Maggie Katherine; parents, Tom and Sandra Coggins; brother, Matthew (Sarah); niece, Sarah Francis; nephew, Moultrie Thomas; in-laws, Howard and Donna Bunn; brother in-law, Kyle.

He was preceded in death by paternal grandparents, Bill and Lillian Coggins, and maternal grandparents, Aubrey and Lydia Williams.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to BoyScout Troop 787 of VFW Post 3433 or Class of 99 Scholarship (see links below) in Chris’ honor, continuing his legacy of service and care for others.
