David was born on October 10, 1968, in Providence, Rhode Island. Throughout his life, he found joy in many hands-on passions, including go-kart racing, fishing—especially shark fishing—woodworking, gardening, and working on cars. He had a deep appreciation for anything mechanical. A proud patriot, David had a strong love for his country, he served for more than 30 years and retired as a Lt. Colonel from the Army. He had a steadfast faith in God, and a member of Sonrise Christian Church.
He was known for his quick wit and infectious sense of humor, always striving to bring laughter: to those around him. Above all, David deeply loved his family and treasured every moment spent with them.
David is survived by his loving wife, Bonita B. Tavares of Goose Creek, SC; daughters, Sara Carter (Hunter), and Toni Orefice (Jay); parents, Bill and Lorena Tavares; brother, Billy Tavares (Ericka); sister, Diane McCauley (Jay); along with 6 grandchildren.
