Dolores Ann Ponte

Dolores Ann Ponte, 91, of Summerville passed away peacefully on Monday, October 16, 2023.

No services will be held at this time. In honor of Dolores, memorials can be made to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital, www.stjude.org; The Wounded Warrior Project, https://support.woundedwarriorproject.org; or a local SPCA.

Dolores was born in Cumberland, MD to the late William and Audrey Sluss. She began a career in the Air Force as a communication specialist where she would then go on and meet her loving husband, Robert Ponte. She was very passionate about daily exercise and walked every day until her recent days, and even coached her children’s softball teams over the years. Dolores loved the art of making ceramic dishes. She had a kiln, drawing, painting, and baking beautiful cakes for her family. Dolores loved games, but she especially loved playing Bunco with her ladies group for many years. She loved all animals but had a special place in her heart for rescues. Dolores will be missed by many.

Dolores is survived by her loving husband of many years, Robert Ponte; son, Douglas Ponte; daughters, Dana Katz, Lisa Ponte; along with 8 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. She is predeceased by her parents, William and Audrey Sluss; and brother, William Charles Sluss III.
