Doris Bolton Obituary

Doris Mae Brunson Bolton has gone home to be with the Lord. Doris of Bonneau, SC was born in Barnwell, SC on September 16, 1935. Preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Palmer E. Bolton, Sr.; her mother, Mary Louise Hiers Bach; Sister, Juanita. She leaves behind her five children, Pamela, Wesley, Dorothy, Annette and Palmer E., Jr. as well as 11 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Doris worked with the Charleston County School District for 26 years, cooking and preparing food for the masses in the lunchrooms of Alice Birney Elementary. Doris raised her children in church, also volunteering, teaching and helping others.

Doris liked to spend time with her family, watching Nascar racing, fishing, her dogs, stray cats, watching out the window, word search books, puzzles and shopping with us girls. Her favorite Bible verses were John 3:16 and the 23rd psalm. Some of her favorite songs included I’ll Fly Away, Amazing Grace, and Jesus Loves me.

Truly the end of an era, our matriarch as well as our dad will be greatly missed, but we rejoice in the fact that she has been called home, and that we will see her again. Thank you Lord for our parents who taught us so many things.

Graveside Services will be Monday afternoon, March 29, 2021 at 2 o’clock in Summerville Cemetery. Flowers will be accepted.
