Frederic Stahl Harley passed away at the Lowcountry Agape Hospice on 10 May 2026.
Fred was born 7 May 1937 in Pottstown, PA to Rudolph “Rudy” Bickel Harley and Florence Mildred Stahl. He spent 20 years in the US Navy, retiring in 1975 as a certified Missile Technician Chief and attaining the rank of Chief Petty Officer. He moved to South Carolina, working for Lockheed Martin as a missile product inspector. He later worked for the Dorchester County Sherriff’s Office as a Victim’s Advocate and court security officer. In South Carolina he met and married his wife of 43 years, Sherry Brooks.
Fred is survived by his children Jeff Harley, Colorado Springs, CO; Evan Hoapili, Orlando, FL; Jeannine Harley, Oak Hill, WV; Julie Gilliam, Virginia Beach, VA; daughter-
in-law Virginia Harley, Detroit, MI; 15 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren. Fred also leaves behind his best friend, Matt “Pee Wee” Bowen of SC. He was preceded in death by his son, Jody Harley.
