George E. Carlin, age 94, passed away peacefully on April 9, 2026. Born on February 26, 1932, in West Caldwell, New Jersey, George lived a long and meaningful life marked by dedication to his family, service to his country, and a warm, steady presence that will be deeply missed.
George proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1950 to 1954, a time in his life that reflected the deep sense of duty and commitment he carried with him always. Those qualities shaped the man he became and were evident to everyone who knew him. In his quieter moments, George found joy in reading and rarely missed a chance to cheer on the Braves. He also had a special place in his heart for animals, showing them the same kindness and care that he so naturally gave to others. He will be remembered for his kindness, quiet strength, and the love he shared with those around him
Above all, George was a devoted family man. He is lovingly survived by his children, Patricia A. Taylor of Summerville, SC, Edward Carlin of North Charleston, SC, William Carlin of North Charleston, SC, and Mary Tola of North Charleston, SC. He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren, David Taylor (Christi), Amanda Taylor, and Allison Taylor (Wesley), as well as his grandsons David, Vincent, and Anthony. He is predeceased by his loving wife, Elizabeth C. Carlin.
In honor of George, memorials can be made to Dorchester Paws, 136 4 Paws Lane, Summerville, SC 29483. Funeral services will be posted at a later date.
