George E. Coggins, age 93, of Gaffney, SC, died January 28, 2026, at Agape Hospice in Summerville, SC. George was born in Cherokee County and was the son of the late William George Coggins and Thelma Burns Coggins of Gaffney.
George worked for Greenwood Mills, Hamrick Mills, and also had a real estate license. He served his country in the U.S. Navy for four years between starting his education at Limestone College and completing his degree at the University of South Carolina. He was a Deacon at First Baptist Church of Greenwood and a member of First Baptist Church of Gaffney for 32 years. George loved the Lord, his family, and his church — and golf and the Gamecocks.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Anne Wilson Bishop of Taylors, SC, and Jane C. Robinson of Easley, SC.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Diane W. Coggins of the Village at Summerville; his daughters, Georgane Coggins of Summerville, SC, and Ashley Coggins of Delray Beach, FL; and three nieces and a nephew.
