Glenn Roy Hines Sr., affectionately known as "Pops," was a man of great integrity, whose life was devoted to faith, family, and country. Glenn began his military service in 1956 by joining the National Guard. In 1964, he transferred to the Air Force, where he served with distinction. That same year, while stationed at Homestead AFB, he met the love of his life, Mary Lou Ferguson. The couple married in 1964 and devoted their lives to raising their three children: Glenn, Janet, and Michele.
During his time stationed at Andrews AFB, Glenn served with honor on the Presidential Support team under the Nixon and Ford administrations, a role he took great pride in. After 20 years of dedicated service, Glenn retired in 1976 in the Charleston area. His passion for aviation led him to continue his career as a pilot, flying high-profile individuals, including the Prince of Saudi Arabia and Malcolm Forbes.
Following the loss of his beloved wife, Mary Lou, in 2011, Glenn retired fully and spent his days fishing at his lake house, visiting the VFW, and cherishing moments with his family. Glenn leaves behind a legacy of service, love, and unwavering commitment to those he held dear.
