Harriette Ilderton Rice, 89, of Givhans, SC passed away peacefully at Summerville Medical Center, Saturday, November 9, 2024, surrounded by family.
Mrs. Rice was an avid reader, loved solving variety puzzles, watching her favorite shows, “Wheel of Fortune”, “Jeopardy”, and “Survivor” with her family, keeping score with various sports, especially football. She adored Aaron Rodgers.
In her younger years, she loved to get in the car to take quick trips to the mountains with the love of her life, her husband, “Bubba”. She also loved spending quality time with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and her great-great grandchildren, Bellamy and Emilia.
She loved to fish when she was able and spent many days at the river. She also planted a yearly garden, canning what she harvested. She was a member of Givhans Trinity Church. Her, and her husband, along with many neighbors and friends, were instrumental in the founding of the volunteer Givhans Fire Department.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Harvey Rice, Sr. “Bubba”, and son; Charles Harvey Rice, Jr. “Chuck”. Mrs. Rice leaves behind one daughter, Wanda Rice Dexter (Peter); son, Timothy Ilderton Rice (Marianne); grandchildren, Holly, Ryan, Mallory, Erica, Timothy, and Taylor; great-grandchildren, Alexas, Mason, Jaden, Christian, Syndey, Presleigh, Tristan, Tryniti, Victor, Jeremiah, Juddah, Brett, Cade, and Alexis; great-great grandchildren, Bellamy, and Emilia.
A Graveside Service will be held on Thursday, November 14, 2024 at 11 o’clock at Brookhaven Fellowship Cemetery, 285 Temple Road, Ridgeville, SC 29472. The family will receive friends the night before for a visitation from 6 o’clock to 8 o’clock at Parks Funeral Home, 130 West 1st North Street, Summerville, SC 29483. Flowers are accepted or memorials can be made in honor of Mrs. Rice to Givhans Trinity Church, 1514 SC-61, Ridgeville, SC 29472.
