Horace Theodore Craven, Jr.

Horace Theodore Craven, Jr., 78, of Ladson, South Carolina, passed away peacefully into the presence of our Lord on Monday, July 24, 2023. He was in his home, surrounded by his loving children.

The relatives and friends of Theodore Craven are invited to attend his Funeral Service at 3:30 PM, Wednesday, July 26, 2023, at parks Funeral Home Chapel, 130 W. 1st North Street, Summerville, SC 29483. Burial will follow in St. Stephen Baptist Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:30 PM until the time of service on Wednesday.

Prior to his battle with Lewy Body Dementia, Theodore enjoyed watching old western movies, reading John Grisham fiction and listening to the country greats Conway Twitty, George Straight and George Jones. He was a retired long distance truck driver. Theodore married the love of his life, Sandra “Sandy” Frierson in 1966 and has grieved her absence daily since her death in 2003.

He is survived by his sister, Naomi Gunter as well as his six children, Patricia Vinson, Sharon Haynes, Horace Craven, III, (Debbie Swank), Julie Craven (Wiggy), Shane Craven (Gina) and Shana Perrin (Trey); 15 grandchildren, Tanya Vinson, Matthew Craven, Tamra Dubis (Michael), Jonathan Haynes, Kenneth Craven (Brandy), Laurin Perrin, Alyssa Perrin, John Craven, Jr., Jared Craven, Hunter Craven, Chelsea Craven, Shelby Craven, Brantley Craven, Liam Craven and Shanyia Craven; 9 great grandchildren, Kaylynn Vinson, Brailynn Haynes, Lakelyn Craven, Sawyer Craven, Kayleigh Dubis, Tristan Dubis, Ryleigh Fisher, Nataleah Turk and Madison Fisher. He is also survived by many close cousins who were like brothers to him.
