Jacklyn M. Rollo, 95, of Summerville, SC passed away peacefully on April 25, 2026. She grew up in Johnson City, NY and while in high school she joined a sorority. While there she was recognized for her ability to tap dance and represented her sorority with her talent.
She graduated with a Registered Nurse (RN) degree from Binghamton General School of Nursing, Binghamton, NY, in 1950. She additionally earned a Masters of Social Work (MSW) from Florida State University in the 1980’s. Combining both her professional degrees she had a career in the helping profession including employment at Ithaca College, Cornell University and Walter Reed Medical Center. She ultimately ended her dedicated career with the Virginia Department of Health, Fairfax, VA. While there she met her very dear friend, Savita Sood, whom she maintained daily contact with for close to 40 years.
She retired to Summerville, SC, where she enjoyed gardening, golfing, and playing bridge and mahjong with lifelong friends. She also enjoyed taking care of her grand-dog, a toy poodle named Pippin.
She is survived by her sons, Michael (Cleide) Rollo of Georgetown, DE, and Philip Rollo of Pittsburg, PA. She was always in the bleachers to cheer her son Philip as he participated in both varsity football and baseball games. She also followed her son Michael’s career as a military officer. While she was proud of her sons’ achievements, she was equally concerned that she instilled in them compassion and respect for others and an appreciation for their country.
In addition, she is survived by her sister, Patricia Donlick of Endicott, NY, and her brother, Thomas (Ginny) Curry of St. Augustine, FL, and many nieces and nephews.
Most importantly, she is survived by her devoted and loving extended family, Dr. Mark Fiedler and his wife, Sandy, of Summerville, SC and their children Leslie (Peter) James of Denver, CO, Shannon Montgomery of Lugoff, SC, and Ian (Brooke) Fiedler of Moncks Corner, SC. Her role of mother, grandmother (Meme), and great grandmother (Gigi) to 8 gave her purpose, great joy and a way for her to express her loving nature.
She had an awesome relationship with her grandson Ian. She encouraged his interest in building ship models and they were prominently displayed in his bedroom at her house. She took him to Armed Forces events, cooked food he loved and enjoyed every moment they shared. When she died she had a nightstand next to her bed and inside the drawer were two wallet sized photos of her Ian.
Funeral will be conducted by Father Ray at St. John the Beloved Catholic Church, 28 Sumter Avenue, Summerville, SC 29483. Service will be Saturday, May, 9, 2026, at 2pm.
