James “Bob “Robert Harmon, 92, husband of Geraldine Harmon, of Summerville, passed away on Sunday, August 23, 2020.
James was born on November 20, 1927, in Jonesville, South Carolina. He was the son of James Andrew and Larie Kennett Harmon. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Dorchester Paws, 136 Four Paws Lane, Summerville, SC 29483.
Bob Harmon was an astute businessman. He was co-owner of Warehouse Distributing Company and Dixie Auto Parts in the Lowcountry for many decades. Bob was an avid golfer, a master storyteller, and was known for his rose garden and excellent homemade wine. He was a former chairman of the Dorchester II school board. “Daddy Bob” was devoted to his family, friends and pets.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Geraldine Poole Harmon; his children, Harriet Harmon Stephen (Graham), Janet Harmon Strickland, and James Arnold Harmon (Kim); his grandchildren, James Brantley Strickland (Amie), James Robert Harmon, II, Carey Kaylyn Harmon Smythe (Thomas), Hutson Will Harmon (Alexis) and his great grandchildren, Henry Buist Smythe,III and James Dawson Strickland. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Kennett Walker Harmon and son in law John Daniel Strickland.
