Jeanette Cato Johnston

It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Jeanette C. Johnston. She passed away Friday, September 13, 2024.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral service on Wednesday, September 18, 2024 at 12 o’clock noon at Parks Funeral Home, 130 W. First North St., Summerville, SC 29483. The family will receive friends for a visitation from 11 o’clock until the time of service. Burial will follow at First Baptist Church of Ravenel, 5987 Highway 165, Ravenel, SC 29470. Flowers are accepted, or donations can be made in honor of Jeanette to Dorchester Paws, 136 4 Paws Lane, Summerville, SC 29483.

At 86 years old, Jeanette is survived by her three daughters; Debbie Bowen (Johnny), Kim Milligan (Tom), and Alesia Milligan (Scott); five grandchildren, Michelle, Amanda, Michael, Ashley, and JJ; five great grandchildren, Nicole, Alex, Wyatt, Avery, and Hayden. She was preceded in death by her parents; Conrad S. Cato & Doris D. Cato; first husband, William H. Brinson; second husband, Russell D. Johnston; brother, Conrad S. Cato Jr.; and sister, Carol Butts.

Jeanette graduated from Chicora High School in Charleston in 1957. She taught ballroom dancing, worked as a seamstress, loved playing with her dachshunds, shopping, and listening to Elvis Presley. In 1968, Jeanette suffered a tragic loss, losing her first husband, William Brinson and brother, Conrad S. Cato, Jr., in a plane accident. In 1972, she would go on and marry Russell D Johnston. Later in life, Jeanette would retire as a member of management from the Kmart Corporation. She was a devoted Christian, and loved her family very much.
