Jewel Singletary Varner, 94, wife of the late Vance “Shorty” Varner, of Ridgeville, passed away on Friday, May 31, 2024.
The relatives and friends of Jewel Varner are invited to attend her Funeral Service at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, June, 5, 2024 at Ridgeville Southern Methodist Church, 413 School Street, Ridgeville. Burial will follow in the churchyard. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until the time of service in the church. Flowers will be accepted or memorial donations can be made to Ridgeville Southern Methodist Church.
Jewel was born in Ridgeville, South Carolina on June 13, 1929. She was the daughter of James and Blanche Singletary. She was very active in her church and Missionary Society. She found great joy in cooking for others and serving others any way that she could. Jewel was a resident at Terra Bella Assisted Living Community for the last three years, was loved by the staff and well taken care of by her therapists, Erin, Laura, Dr. Thomas and Shay. We thank them with all our heart. The family also wishes to thank the staff at Agape Hospice and Low Country Hospice House for the care that they gave her the last three weeks.
Jewel is survived by her daughter, Sheila Moore and her husband, Rick; her grandchildren, Jason Moore and his wife Meagan and Julie Smith and her husband Ken Smith and her great grandchildren, Loralai Moore, Grady Moore and Cara Smith. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were her pride and joy and she loved to spoil them. She is also survived by her twin sister, June Bletsch of Ridgeville as well as many nieces and nephews. Jewel was preceded in death by her husband, Vance Varner.
