A lifelong Pittsburg Steelers fan, a dedicated father to his sons, someone who could always be counted on by friends and coworkers and who was always there for his family.
John Buchanan, 53, a long-time resident of Goose Creek, was all the above. Sadly, for those he loved, his family, his friends and coworkers, John made the decision to leave behind his emotional pain and life struggles on Saturday, June 1, 2024. He will be sorely missed by many of those whose lives he touched.
A Celebration of John’s life will be held at 1:00 PM, Saturday, June 15, 2024 at Parks Funeral Home, 130 West 1st North Street, Summerville, SC 29483.
Born July 29, 1970, in Florence, SC, John was loyal to the sports teams he followed, his two sons, his family and to his longtime friends and “buddies”. Never one to miss a Steelers game or a good MMA fight, John often spent time with friends cheering on his favorite teams and players.
After graduating from Goose Creek High School in 1988, John attended Francis Marion University where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration in 1994. John was a member of Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity. For the past 20 years John had worked in the IT field where he managed and executed IT integration projects in a number of diverse sectors in the financial, healthcare, and technology fields. John was employed with Nordic Global at the time of his passing.
John is survived by his two sons, John Wesley Buchanan Jr. and Mason Blaize Buchanan, his sister Becky Buchanan Powell (David), and countless cousins and friends who he considered extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents Vickie and Dennie Buchanan.
