John Henry Wachter, known as “Whu-Whu” by his friends, of Summerville, SC, passed away Monday, March 23, 2026. He was 79 years old.
His family and friends will forever celebrate his life with his memories.
John was born August 12, 1946 in Bethlehem, PA, the son of the late Harold Wachter and Margaret Cook Wachter. He honorably served in the United States Army and worked as a Cellular Sales Engineer. He enjoyed running marathons, sailing, skiing, and fishing. He also liked photography, cigars and drinks, was a watch collector, and member of Partridge and Palmetto Gun Club. John and Barbara took pride in building their lake house themselves in Lake Ariel where they made many lovely memories.
In addition to his wife Barbara of Summerville, SC, Whu-Whu leaves behind his son, Shawn Wachter of Henderson, NV; daughter, Michelle Bristol of Bethlehem, PA; sisters, Nancy Powers and Sharon Weaver, both of Vancouver, WA; and a granddaughter, Mailee Wachter of Henderson, NV.
