We mournfully announce the passing of Joseph W. Jambro, 85 of Summerville, SC who died peacefully at his home on August 14, 2023.
The relatives and friends are invited to attend his Mass of Christian Burial at 1:00 PM, Saturday, August 19, 2023, at St. John The Beloved Catholic Church, 28 Sumter Ave., Summerville, SC 29483. The Rite of Committal will follow at Dorchester Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM, Friday evening, at Parks Funeral Home, 130 W. 1st North Street, Summerville, SC 29483. Flowers will be accepted or memorial donations may be made to St. Vincent de Paul at St. John The Beloved.
Joe was born in Niagara Falls, New York, on July 13, 1938. He was the son of Joseph D. and Harriett C. Jambro. He graduated from St. Mary’s High School in St. Mary’s, PA, in 1957, going on to pursue a degree in Electrical Engineering from Tri-State University, now Trine University in Angola, IN. In college, he was a member of Phi Kappa Theta fraternity and served on the Board of Directors and President. After graduation, Joe returned to Niagara Falls to begin his career with DuPont as an Electrical Design Engineer. He eventually joined Airco Speer Carbon Co. where he held various positions in Electrical Engineering in Niagara Falls, NY and St. Mary’s, PA and served his community as a member of the Kiwanis Club. In 1983, Joe transferred with Airco Carbon, now Showa Denko Carbon and moved the family to Summerville, SC, where he held the position of Manager of Engineering and Maintenance until his retirement after 39 years of service. Joe was a man of high integrity; he was responsible, respectful, had conservative values, was a devout Catholic, had a strong work ethic, and was a family man. He loved his wife and family and enjoyed everything mechanical, engineering marvels, music and performance cars. He could engineer everything and make it better.
Joseph is survived by his wife, Leonor; son, Joseph M. Jambro; grandson, Joseph N. Jambro; brothers, Thomas Jambro and Dr. Robert Jambro; stepdaughters, Nicole Crocker (Matthew) and Dina Barbush (Sam) and grandchildren, Angelo, Rachael, Jacque, Sammy, Victor and Bella. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph D. and Harriett Jambro; brother, Donald Jambro; his previous wife and mother of his children, Judith Detter Jambro and his sons, David Jambro and Robert Jambro.
