Joseph “Joe” John Napoli, 76, of Givhans, South Carolina, entered into eternal rest Sunday, November 24, 2024.
Joe was born May 21, 1948 in Canicatti, Italy to Pietro Napoli and Teresa Rao Napoli. In 1955, his family immigrated to New York City, building a life centered on love, dedication and devotion to family. Joe attended high school at Power Memorial Academy in New York, where he further developed the principles of discipline, perseverance, and faith which shaped his character throughout his life.
Joe was the beloved husband of 44 years to his loving wife, Julie Stringer Napoli of Givhans, SC, and a proud father to his six children: Peter Napoli (Rebecca), Sean Napoli (Kathryn), Traci Farris (David), Jennifer Napoli, Connie Wilson (David), and Aldo Napoli (Ashley). Joe is also survived by his brother-in-law David Stringer; sister-in-law Michelle English (Chris); several nieces and nephews; and “Nonno” to his 15 cherished grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, Pietro Napoli; his mother, Teresa Rao Napoli; and his brother, Aldo Napoli.
A lifelong, faithful Catholic, Joe was a devoted parishioner of Stella Maris Catholic Church, where he attended the Traditional Latin Mass. His deep faith was the foundation of his life, and he lived with a strong commitment to God, his family, and his community.
Joe was also a proud veteran, having served in both the United States Army and the United States Air Force. As a loadmaster in the Air Force, he considered it the best job in the world, finding deep fulfillment in his role. Joe took great pride in his military service, but he always regarded his greatest career accomplishment as the opportunity to mentor and help young airmen, shaping the future of those he served with.
A dedicated provider, cherished patriarch, and a man of great generosity, Joe’s legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew him. His love for his Italian heritage, his steadfast faith, and his commitment to both family and service were the hallmarks of his character.
The family will receive friends between 5:00 and 7:00 PM on Sunday, December 1st, at Parks Funeral Home, 130 W. 1st N. St., Summerville, SC. A Requiem Mass will be celebrated on Monday, December 2nd, at 11:00 AM at Stella Maris Catholic Church, 1204 Middle St., Sullivan’s Island, SC, followed by the Rite of Committal at Dorchester Memory Gardens, 11000 Dorchester Rd., Summerville, SC. Flowers are accepted. Memorial contributions may be made to Birthright of Charleston in Joe’s memory.
