Ken was born on July 11, 1952, in Summerville, SC to Marion Francis Hopkins and the late Catherine Knight Hopkins. After graduating high school, he had two daughters that he loved dearly, Kanesa and Melissa. In the year 2000, he met his best friend and future wife, Cynthia Bowers Hopkins. They married on March 22, 2002, and started a lifelong journey together. Ken accomplished a lot during his lifetime, he worked many years at Berkeley Electric-Coop and SCE&G along with being a great handyman on the side. After his first battle with cancer in 2005 and while in remission, he established his own business called, “God's Plan Handyman”. This was something that was very special to Ken. He took all his jobs seriously but this one was different. He was able to share his testimony and bless many of the customers he worked with. Some of these customers became very good friends who helped him and Cyndi through open heart surgery and two more battles with cancer. His daughter Kanesa vividly remembers her dad always offering and helping her softball team, he was always there when she needed him. Melissa remembers spending time working with her dad, they would wire mobile homes together and go riding in his work truck. They made memories together that she would remember for her whole life. Ken also enjoyed his own house projects, spending time with beloved family and friends and traveling to the mountains. He will be missed dearly by many.
