Lawton Jay Cook, Sr.

Lawton Jay Cook Sr., 86, of Ladson, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 15, 2023.

The burial will be privately held at Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery. In honor of Lawton, memorials can be made to the Villages at Summerville, 201 West 9th North Street, Summerville, SC 29483.

Lawton was born on January 1, 1937 in Bethune, SC to the late Samuel and Melita Cook. During his lifetime he served in the U.S. Army and then would go on to become a computer technician. Lawton married the love of his life, Helen Cook who he would then start a loving family with. He was also a deacon at Ridge Baptist Church for many years. Lawton was an avid reader and also loved the South Carolina Gamecocks.

Lawton is survived by his sons, Lawton Jay Cook Jr., of Ladson, SC, Thomas Wade Cook of Ladson, SC, Jason Brooks Cook of Cary, NC; daughter, Jill Cook Holstein of Summerville, SC; brother, Terry Cook of Easley, SC; along with 4 grandchildren. He is predeceased by his wife, Helen Thames Cook; parents, Samuel and Melita Cook.
