Leonard Boyd Mixson, of Newberry, SC, went to be with the Lord on June 26, 2025. He was born in Summerville, SC on June 16, 1960, son of John Boyd & Rosalie Chaplin Mixson of Ladson, SC.
Leonard was known as an avid car and truck enthusiast. From childhood toys, hobby cars, to driving 18 wheelers. His favorite job as a young man was driving those big trucks for his dad, John Mixson, in the well drilling business, and then for his Uncle Freddie at Landmark Construction. At the end of his working career, he worked at McElveen Buick GMC and took care of the cars on the lot, and he loved it! All about cars. All about trucks. And all about jokes. He loved a good practical joke!
Leonard is survived by two sisters, Sharon Mixson Starnes (Kent), Nancy Mixson Davis (Ken), and two brothers Kenneth (Patricia) and Dennis Mixson (Barbara), nieces and nephews, Cassandra Starnes Teachey (Steve), Elise Starnes Key (Matt), Jonathan Mixson, Jessie Mixson (Elisha), and a number of great nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents, and also his special friend Ellie, of N. Charleston, SC.
Visitation for family and friends will be from 10 o'clock to 12 o'clock noon, Saturday morning, July 12, 2025, at Parks Funeral Home. Celebration of life service will follow immediately in the Parks Funeral Home Chapel, 130 W. 1st North Street, Summerville, SC 29483. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Lowcountry LEAP Ministries or Meals on Wheels.
