Louis Bertie Grooms, Jr.

Louis "Louie" Bertie Grooms, Jr., 74, of Summerville, South Carolina, husband of Shirley Myrtle Isgett Grooms, entered into eternal rest Thursday, February 4, 2021. His graveside inurnment will be held Friday, February 12, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. in Summerville Cemetery, 642 Boonehill Rd., Summerville, SC 29483. The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 11, 2021 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Parks Funeral Home, 130 West 1st North Street, Summerville, SC 29483. Arrangements by J. Louie was born June 16, 1946 in Summerville, South Carolina, son of Louis Bertie Grooms and Marie Elizabeth McAlister Grooms. He was a graduate of Summerville High School where he was a member of the golf team and the marching band. His entire career as a railroad carman was spent with Seaboard Coastline Railroad which later became CSX Transportation from which he retired after over 40 years of service. His interest included many side business adventures that turned into hobbies. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and in his later years he enjoyed antiquing and acquired a vast collection of cookie jars.

He is survived by his wife of Summerville, SC; two sons, Corey J. Grooms and Ryan K. Grooms both of Summerville, SC; one daughter, Stacey M. Grooms and her wife Sarah Turk of Charlotte, NC; a daughter-in-law, Melissa Yates Grooms of Summerville, SC; two grandsons, Gage K.Grooms and Ryan N. Yates both of Summerville, SC; one granddaughter, Vivien S. Morton of Charlotte, NC and one great granddaughter, Kashlynn Yates of Summerville, SC.
