Margaret Foster Obituary

Margaret E. Vaughn Foster, 96, wife of the late Loyce B. Foster, of Summerville, passed away on Saturday, June 19, 2021.

The relatives and friends of Margaret E. Foster are invited to attend her Funeral Service at 3:00 PM, Wednesday, June 23, 2021, at Hillcrest Memory Gardens, Greer, South Carolina. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM, Tuesday, June 22, 2021 at Parks Funeral Home, 130 W. 1st North Street, Summerville, SC, 29483. Margaret was born in Greenville, South Carolina on December 22, 1924. She was the daughter of Clarence Vaughn and Etta Cisson Vaughn. Margaret often talked about helping her daddy on the farm as a child. As a young woman, she worked at Belton Mills and Appalache Mills. Upon moving to Richmond Hill, GA, she became a full-time homemaker. She later moved to Summerville, SC.

She was a very caring person and devoted many years assisting relatives and friends in need of a helping hand. She loved cooking and was known for her chocolate and black walnut cakes. In her later years, Margaret spent her summers with her sisters in Saluda, NC at Orchard Lake Campground where she was an integral part of the summer community. Margaret loved flower gardening and having the showiest camper site was always a source of pride for her. She made many friends at the campground and spent her winters keeping in touch with them and planning activities for the following year. She attended Heritage Holiness Church where she made many friends and loved each and every one of them. Margaret spent her final years at Magnolia's Assisted Living which she considered home. After a lengthy hospital stay, she was relieved to be able to return to that home. She loved the staff and the residents that she came to know as friends.

Margaret is survived by her son, Ronnie Foster (Chick); granddaughters, Laura Wells (Chad) and Jayme Murray; great grandchildren, Caitlin Olive and James Watson; sisters, Carolyn Kelly and Betty Muller and a special friend and longtime neighbor, Linda Gissell, known as "Gigi" to her grandsons, Charlie and Fenton.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; brothers, Eugene G. Vaughn and Jerry W. Vaughn and her sisters, Ellen Bratcher and Nellie Allen.
