Mary Catherine Hayes

Mary C. Hayes, 83, fondly known as Cathy, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 28, 2025.

A Graveside Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, May 15, 2025, at Beaufort National Cemetery, 1601 Boundary St. Beaufort, SC 29902.

Mary was born on July 14, 1941, in Montgomery, AL, to the late DeWitt T. and Alma R. Howard. She was a true warrior. Mary was an anointed Christian soldier who sowed seeds of the love of Jesus Christ at every opportunity. She served her country in the United States Air Force. Mary devoted decades of faithfulness and love to her husband, Lindsay (59 years), as well as to her daughter Danielle and her son Scott. She was a loving Grandmother, sister, confidant, counselor, prayer warrior, Christian poet, worshipper, exhorter, motivator, friend to many, and much, much more.

Mary is survived by her loving husband, Lindsay Hayes of Charleston, SC, and her daughter, Danielle V. Hayes-Harris of Summerville, SC. Grandchildren, Tatiana, Maxwell, Michael, and Mikayla; Great-grandchild Makoa, who was just born; Brother; Chrispus A. Howard, Navarre, FL; Sisters Gwendolyn Robinson, Montgomery, AL, and Rosalyn Ben, Palmdale, CA, as well as many nieces and nephews. Mary was predeceased by her parents, DeWitt and Alma Howard; her son Scott L. Hayes; brother DeWitt T. Howard Jr.; sisters, Eunice Smart and Johnnie Belinda Hunter.
