Mary Lou Bryant Bokern

Mary Lou Bryant Bokern of Charleston, SC, passed away at her home surrounded by her loved ones on Thursday, February 12, 2026.  She was born May 21, 1931 ((94 years old) in Society Hill, SC to the late Edelle Bradshaw Bryant and Samuel Jefferson Bryant, Jr.  Mary Lou was known to her” 3 boys” as the most amazing, loving, and caring mother.  To her husband, the ROCK of the family, and to the extended family the strongest and matriarch of the Bryant Family.  We all knew when we were with her there would be a lesson from the Bible as well as the saying “God don’t love Ugly”.

In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her husband and love of her life, Ralph Ripon Bokern, Sr, of 65 years, her sister, Virginia B Moore & her brother, Griffin J Bryant, Sr.

Survivors included: Ralph Ripon Bokern, Jr, (Kathy) of Angier, NC., Gregory A Bokern, (Stephanie) of Moncks Corner, SC, and Michael B Bokern (Kathleen) of Crestview, Fl.  Grandchildren: Breanne McGuire (Dan), Jennifer Bokern, Sheldon Bokern, Brittany Sanders (Matthew), Joshua Bokern and Jacob Bokern.  Great-grandchildren: Meghan McGuire, James McGuire, and Danny McGuire; Luke Sanders and Lainey Sanders.  Brother William E Bryant, Sr. of Cheraw, SC.  Many nieces & nephews, cousins & friends.

The family would like to thank the Hospice at Home by Bayada for their support, medical care and loving care thru her final days, with a special thank you to Adean.
