Meredith William Bunch

Meredith William Bunch Sr., 93, husband of the late Mary Baldwin Bunch, of Ridgeville, passed away on Wednesday, May 1, 2024.

The relatives and friends of Meredith Bunch are invited to attend his Funeral Service at 12 Noon, Saturday, May 4, 2024, at Parks Funeral Home Chapel, 130 W. 1st North Street, Summerville, SC 29483. Burial will follow in Plantation Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM until the time of service on Saturday. Flowers accepted

Meredith was born in Summerville, South Carolina on September 7, 1930. He was the son of Leon Showers and Ethel Bunch.

Meredith “Mel” Bunch was a proud Army Veteran who loved to share many stories of his time in the Korean War, his many experiences working in the funeral home and the all his success buying and selling land throughout Dorchester, Berkeley and Colleton Counties.
 

His love of construction and new land development would send him on long rides in search of timbering trees and big machines. Mel Bunch was never too proud to tell you exactly what he was thinking in which we all knew was a family trait. Mel loved fishing but even more loved to fry them up as he would explain “You must salt & pepper each one at a time or you ain’t doing it right”. More than anything, Mel was a proud father and husband who lit up when sharing stories of his wife and son. 

Meredith Bunch is survived by his grandson, Mathew Bunch; two sisters; Carol Carrington and Deloris Crozat; a brother in law and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Bunch; son, Meredith Bunch Jr. “Skip”; three brothers, Jerry Bunch, Warren Bunch and Leon Bunch and 4 sisters, Shirley Bunch, Juanita Gose, Leone Barthel and Charolette Morgan.
