Michael Alan Mulligan, 69, North Charleston, SC died at home following a long illness on Easter Sunday, April 5, 2026.
Born on August 17, 1956, in Mt. Clemens, MI, Mike grew up in Rochester, MI and served in the United States Air Force for 24 years attaining the rank of Chief Master Sergeant (E-9). Mike served as the Chief of the Combat Camera Squadron on Charleston Air Force Base from 1998 – 2001. Upon retirement from the USAF Mike embarked on a career as a professional fashion and wedding photographer. He was passionate about the art and craft of photography and about passing on his wealth of knowledge to aspiring photographers, models, and fashion designers in the Charleston metro area.
Mike was a devoted husband and father and enjoyed travel, golf, fishing, and gardening when he wasn’t organizing photo shoots. He is remembered for his patient dedication to capturing meaningful images of weddings, family milestones, graduating seniors and his creative approach to fashion photography.
Mike is survived by Julie (nee Perry) his wife of 48 years; his daughters Kathryn Maloney (Matt) and Erin Mulligan; his siblings Jim, Sheryl, and Ron (Marti) and nephews Matthew and Marc; and his grandchildren, Harper and Mason who held a special place in his heart. He is preceded in death by his parents James and Shirley (nee Mahon) Mulligan.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 9, 2026 at 11 o’clock at St. Paul’s Anglican Church, 316 W Carolina Ave, Summerville, SC 29483. The family will receive friends for a visitation the night before on Friday, May 8, 2026 from 6 o’clock to 8 o’clock at Parks Funeral Home, 130 West 1st North Street, Summerville, SC 29483.
